Cubed: An elevated journey through Pain

Cubed is a thought-provoking exploration of the multifaceted nature of pain, both imposed and self-selected. Delving into our main subject CC's experiences of navigating chronic pain, the show invites audiences to reevaluate their perceptions of pain and its potential for positivity. Cubed will be presented as a live-art multidisciplinary installation at MEANWHILE Gallery in Wellington as part of New Zealand Fringe 2024. This unique art experience challenges conventional notions of pain by showcasing a journey towards empowerment through the embrace of chosen discomfort. The narrative unfolds on a single day, offering a brief yet intense experience that encourages reflection.

While Cubed explores elements of physical trauma, it tactfully weaves these components into a compelling story of empowerment and unconventional beauty. This show, not for the faint of heart, aims to engage audiences in a profound exploration of pain as a transformative force. To these ends we incorporate innovative multimedia presentation with live piercing developing into a hook suspension over the course of around 4 hours. Cubed will not be ticketed and is free for audiences to attend. It does however come with all of the production and travel costs that a show like this takes to put together. The budget for this show is currently estimated in excess of $3000, being a free show and not having received funding we have no other hope to try and recover any of this cost except to rely on the generosity of our supporters.

We've set our primary goal low to keep it achievable in the short amount of time we have, this will cover our equipment, vehicle and Qlab hire for setting up the show but we're really hoping to achieve our stretch goal of $3300 to cover travel, accommodation, consumables, advertising and clean up.

We believe this is an important show that brings exposure to the challenges of living with chronic pain as well as the beauty that can be created through taking ownership of pain.
