Overview
The Creative Mother Podcast poses the question: how do we continue to be creative and produce creative work, all while raising children? Help us fund Season One and grow this community that encourages and inspires creative mothers and mothers-to-be.
What is The Creative Mother Podcast?
The Creative Mother Podcast features interviews with creative women from a range of professions, who are also mothers. We will meet artists, designers, musicians, film makers, fashion designers and more, as we talk about the impact of motherhood on women, creativity and business.
This podcast will create an open and honest space to talk, share stories and help creative mothers everywhere gain a sense of community, understanding and inspiration. Each episode will be released weekly on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and all your favourite podcast channels.
We will unpack topics like how motherhood impacts the creative process, healing through art after trauma or post-natal depression, reclaiming Te Reo in art and with your children, solo parenting and maintaining a creative business, motherhood and creating during a pandemic.
Your support is needed to grow The Creative Mother Podcast
This project is currently self-funded. Your donation will help extend the reach of this community, cover production costs and make The Creative Mother Podcast the best it can be. Your donation will allow us to share these stories, creating a feeling of community that encourages and inspires creative mothers and mothers-to-be.

Sharing these stories is something I am called to do.
I am hugely passionate about sharing these stories, knowing that they can encourage and inspire other creative mothers.
Being creative takes time, patience, space to think and create. Often, motherhood does not allow for much of that to happen. With this podcast, I pose the question: how do we continue to be creative and produce creative work, while raising children?
Connecting with other creative mothers has been a huge source of comfort for me. So many creative women have amazing stories about their creative careers, and how they have maintained these after having children.
My goal is to create a little corner of the internet where creative mothers share their stories and gain a feeling of community, understanding, and inspiration.
Who is behind this project?
I am Kate Hursthouse, the host of The Creative Mother Podcast.
I am an artist, creative business owner and single mother to one awesome kid. I have run my own creative business since 2014. I have been involved in a whole range of projects over the years - from commercial illustrations and design projects to contemporary art, children’s book illustrations and hand-painted murals.
A highlight of my career so far has been creating artworks that were gifted to Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, and Māori King Kiingi Tūheitia. Becoming a mother in 2018 really made me question who I was as a person, as a designer, as an artist and I found becoming a mother had a huge impact on my ability to be creative.
Thank you so much for your support, I can't wait to share these stories with you!

Project Updates
We have reached 50% of our target!
Thank you SO much for your donation, generosity and support of this project.
We have reached 50% of the total target we are trying to achieve, in the first 5 days, which is very exciting.
We need to hit 100% of our target otherwise we don't receive any of the donations.
It would mean the world if you were able to help spread awareness of this campaign and the podcast by sharing the donation page around, or sharing anything you see on social media.
The more support the podcast gets the more stories we can share.
Thank you so much once again
