Takitimu ki Takitumu - Coming Home

Takitimu ki Takitumu - Coming Home, is a look into the history of Cook Island women rugby players in New Zealand and re-connecting some with their culture and arts. The short visual story will document my journey in strategic planning as I apply for funding and scholarships to carry out a life long dream in hope's of leaving a legacy to all Cook Island women.

The goal of my project is to visually document my unique strategy to boost and support the growth and development of women's rugby in Oceania. I intend to be a Cook Island Rugby Board member in the future. As part of the work to gain this I intend to start with a trip to the Cook Island with a group of peers that I have chosen for their expertise in playing, coaching or administration.

I want to highlight the talent of pasifika women in sport and how Māori and Pasifika women in rugby have held a strong space in Hawke's Bay to allow many to excel from the region. I want to highlight how holding space for your community produces intergenerational knowledge and passion. I want to re-connect myself and my fellow wahine who have held space with me for many years with the women of the Cook Islands and pass on as much knowledge as we can. I also want to learn as much about my Cook Island culture as I can from them.

This is an oppourtunity to document my experiences and share them with the community in Aotearoa and the Cook Islands. This is the first step in my 5 year strategic plan I am currently compiling and I would appreciate any and all support.
