Bring LUMA to Life!
With LUMA19 fast approaching, the creative team behind this annual sensory experience are asking supporters to help enhance the live performance components we've been working on all year.
Interaction is at the heart of what we do and we're looking for some extra funds to bring LUMA to life.
We'll be providing new and exciting live experiences from aerialists, performance pieces, musicians, and live immersive art. We are very proud to be collaborating this year with the Remarkable Theatre company, Wakatipu Conservatoire of Classical Ballet, Dance Plant, as well as other amazing performers and entertainers. We are also excited to welcome back the Fairies, as part of the Flame Entertainment crew.
The last piece of the puzzle is to help fund the choreography of this performance component and contribute to some of the unavoidable costs of looking after a larger group of collaborators.
This event continues to grow through the commitment of a large number of volunteers and creative partners. We need your help to continue with that growth and build a truly sustainable arts event for our community.
About LUMA
LUMA is held over Queen's Birthday Weekend delivering a curated collection of light sculptures, art, performances and installations. Last year LUMA Southern Light Project welcomed over 50,000 visitors to the Queenstown Gardens.
LUMA is a community, a collective, a family of doers, creatives and visionaries with the shared mission to create an immersive nightscape. Over the last 4 years we have worked to create an accessible, world-class, public event which engages our community and our partners to explore the connection between art, technology and design through the medium of light.
Governed by a not-for-profit charitable trust and free to the public, the festival won the 2016 Trustpower Regional Award for Arts and Culture, and in 2017 won the Supreme Winner for our Region. Our vision for LUMA is to build a world-class art festival based on strong local support and integration. It's our aim to bring our entire community along for the ride.
Thanks so much for your support!
