BRAVE- A Daisy Poetry Promenade
Daisy Lavea-Timo | Multi Discipline
Overview
The "BRAVE- Daisy Poetry Promenade" is a showcase of original works, told through spoken word poetry, music and theatre. Part of the "BRAVE- Daisy Poetry Promenade" will share the traditional heritage arts of "Tatau" (Traditional tattooing) and "Si'i" (Traditional gift exchange at a wedding or funeral) to give the audience a better understanding of traditional Samoan culture and values.
The audience will move between six different spaces/rooms within one building complex. These spaces are themed: Vasa Loloa (Navigating the Sea), Shakespeare and Hip Hop, Tatau (Traditional Samoan Tattoo) , Alofa (Love is), Afi (Fire) and Si'i alofa (Gift Exchange).
For two shows only, "BRAVE" will take place on Thursday 12 and Friday 13 November at the Aranui High School Music Block.
Special guests are: the Judah Band and world-renowned DJ Infared- fresh off an New Zealand campaign.
The "BRAVE- Daisy Poetry Promenade" is a collaboration between local artists, poets, musicians, dancers, athletes, photographers, videographers, teachers and elders.
No amount is too small.
Your contribution will help ensure that every one of these Christchurch artists receives a koha. Essentially, your gift will help achieve the "BRAVE" goals: inspiring pride in one's culture and identity, collaboration, and providing high quality and innovative New Zealand arts.
Faafetai.
