Bogged

The Project
"Hungover from a confusing late night of piss ups at Emma's 19th birthday, Pete and Rory set out on their usual off road trip. The terrain toughens as Pete tells a very drunk Rory the story of how he really got vomit on his shirt. Meanwhile, Emma is left to face her succession of drunken decisions from the night before, leaving her no choice but to leave town."
Tēnā koutou,
Poihipi Productions Ltd is at the beginning of its journey, officially opening in the middle of 2023. It is building its body of work in Narrative Films, Music Videos and Commercials.
Award winning director Dylan Poihipi is leading the waka to create this korero. He's debut short film "Love is Dead" is currently in the film festival circuit. Having already been selected into both national and international festivals, and having won an award at the New Zealand Youth Film Festival, the journey of "Love is Dead" is far from ending.
Nevertheless, time has come to tell the story of "Bogged."
Writer & Director : Dylan Poihipi
Notes from the director - Why this story?
This korero is a confusing and contradictory navigation of youth and growing up in Aotearoa. An attempt to observe and articulate the volatile complexities within our little young lives, as well as the frustration of growing up and not knowing what it means to be an adult.
I have always loved 'slice of life' films and haven’t seen many within our own little part of the world. From the dialogue of Éric Rohmer’s work such as “L'ami de mon amie” (My Girlfriend's Boyfriend) to the world of "Y Tu Mama Tambien" (And Bring Your Mother Too) made by Alfonso Cuarón. These films and their creators have deeply inspired me to take the leap into making "Bogged."
Where does the funding go?
Your funding contributions go straight to cover Food, Travel & Accommodation for our Cast & Crew, Location Fees and Permits.
Writer/Director Dylan Poihipi will also be investing in the project, but that alone won't be enough without your help. As you all know, a film can not be done by one, it takes a tribe.
This will be 1/3 Blocks of filming.
Nga mihi nui!
