The Project
Our project is a student lead one. We are students apart of a film production course at Victoria University who are tasked with creating this film for our degree. Our preproduction will go from now till the end of April which is when we will begin production. We aim to shoot for 4 days, potentially less and then we will enter postproduction to edit this film ready for viewing by the end of May. The crowdfunding is to of course build up a fund for our crew to use for production so that it can run smoothly without having any setbacks due to financial issues, however alternatively, crowdfunding for this production is a perfect opportunity to bring people together for this community we're creating around our short film. We want people outside our film, our class, our school, even wellington to experience the making of this film and to have the opportunity to be apart of it.
The Team
The core team for this production are the students within the film production programme at Victoria University.
Jeremy Leveridge - Producer. In charge of organising the logistics of the production and making sure it runs smoothly before, during, and after production.
Sean Fa'aiuaso - Director. Focusing on the talent of the film, envisioning a creative and entertaining performance from the script given to him.
Aisha Dawson - Director of Photography. Working behind the camera, creating the most visually appealing shots and making a vision from a story board come to life.
George Harris - Gaffer/Editor. In charge of lighting and amplifying a scene with creative uses of light and colour.
Ruben Taiaroa - Sound recordist. Working on giving the production the most crisp audio up from the audio down to the music, adding soul and emotion to the film.
The Funding
The production itself will require a certain amount of funds to help cover certain things to make this film the best that it can be. The profits of this campaign will go towards the following:
- Paying actors
- Catering for the actors and crew members on set
- Transportation of equipment, crew/actors, food, etc
- Props for set design
These are the essential requirements to help make our vision for this film a reality.
The Details
Aside from this being our graded film production for the university, we're creating a film of comedy and drama, full of laughter and joy which usually when you see a short film production, the narrative would typically follow a sad or intense story full of drama and tension. This film draws inspiration from other comedic films, such as the witty energy from 'Superbad' and the quirky hilarious elements in 'Booksmart'. Our goal is to show successfully we can make this comedy film as funny as it can be while still having many creative techniques tied to it that we as students have learnt in our course. We already have a vision that we know can work and will bring smiles and laughter to the audience and we're working our hardest in terms of making this production run smoothly. Instead of striving for the usual sad drama, we're aiming for the hilarious comedy. And we're excited!
The Impact
We are apart of the creatives of Wellington. Each and every one of us have something worth showing to our community and the wider community. We have talents and skills that we know can impact our audience through this film, we just need people from the community to trust that we can bring our words from paper to the screen. By supporting us, you'll be supporting the next generation of filmmakers for the world.
