Art Stars - Exhibition

​We’re saving school students’ art from the skip. After some last minute juggling of date changes, we can finally go ahead with our annual art exhibition being held in Christchurch's CBD this August.

Incredible artwork is created at a school level and, more often than not, these student art folios, filled with fabulous works, end up either in a deep, dark corner of their parents' garage or in the skip.

The Creators’ Room provides a free program to secondary school visual artists to showcase their work and connect with our community of collectors. The 2019 inaugural ‘Art Stars’ Exhibition hosted in Christchurch was an amazing success, both well supported by the public and the media. Due to the lockdown, we had to postpone our May exhibition, and are working hard to bring these amazing artworks to the Christchurch public at The Welder from 28 August – 10 September 2020. 

We are on a mission to connect these creators with collectors and help dispel some of the barriers for young artists, such as lack of confidence, funds, and knowledge of how to market themselves in the early days of creating. To do this we fund the framing of the original works for exhibition and the production of their limited edition prints.

Since our inception in 2018, The Creators’ Room has paid out $39,000 in royalties to our young Creator’s in Canterbury alone and over $50,000 in financial assistance to frame originals artworks and produce limited edition prints. We were lucky enough to have a very generous print sponsor on board last year who printed our beautifully designed 22 page A5 exhibition catalogue. Due to the current climate, our local print supplier understandably is unable to support us in the same capacity as last year. We would love to return the support they have shown us and pay for 2,000 copies of our exhibition catalogue in full. We are seeking your help to achieve this.
