‼️Todays the last day of our @boosted.nz campaign! Here is a picture from repainting the arnott heights playground boards 🌟
2 days to go!
What is art soup? Let's hear it from the people started it, and those we picked up along the way! Thanks to everyone who has helped us so far, either by donating/teaching/cooking/volunteering/being-artists, and making Art Soup the safe artsy space it is for the youth of Māwhera Greymouth! Big thanks to Jase Blair for directing this interview! And to the Ministry for culture and heritage for giving us our seed funding back in 2021!
Fred spoke at The Art Foundation's event!
Creative spaces for rangitahi are essential everywhere, not just in main city centres. One of our founders, fourteen-year-old Fred Struve, spoke at The Art Foundation Te Tumu Toi’s All In For Arts Hokitika event. Watch below!
One Week To Go!
Our GDYT youth are very invested in the Art Soup Arts and Wellbeing project, and are working really hard to care for the space that it is running from right now.
Supporting their Boosted! campaign will help them open the space for more hours each week, and to have more supervised working bees so they can do the work they want to do - more time to create art, more workshops and events, and more work on the physical surroundings.
Every little bit helps, even a dollar moves us closer to our goal!
A huge THANK YOU to everyone who has donated to, shared, or talked about our Boosted! Campaign! Every little bit helps.
What will your donation help with?
It will mean we can organise more fun, excellent workshops like the 3-day Filmmaking workshop we ran in the April holidays. GDYT Trustee Advisors Kyle Hsieh and Henry Priebe worked alongside International Storyteller Andy Wright, teaching story writing, filming, and editing. This all happened at @artsoup.nz The group worked together to complete their films - learning new skills and meeting new friends.
Mentoring more youth to take on leadership and tutoring roles does take time, but it's an investment in our Grey District youth and an investment in the future of the creative sector of Aotearoa New Zealand.
Dreams for Art Soup
Here is a video made by the youth of Art Soup, where you can learn more about their vision for the space/project, a few for the projects that are underway, and how much it all means to them!
