Art Exhibition: Tufuga - Creative hands minds and spirit
Tufuga Arts Trust | Visual Art
The Project
Tufuga is a charitable trust that has emerged from a need to enable social inclusion for people with mental health disabilities living within South Auckland. And we need your help.
Through the practise of art in a weekly art group, Tufuga gives people living with a mental illness a voice, it offers them hope and allows them to live well and take control of their own lives. Art allows them to be able to explore and express who and where they are in their society. With supporting this project you will be a part of this; enabling them to continue to pursue their own goals.
This particular project is an opportunity for artists to exhibit at the Mangere Art Gallery in October this year. This exhibition coincides with mental health awareness week and all of our artists exhibiting have a lived experience of mental illness. The exhibition will consist of a variety of mediums; mosaics, prints, acrylic, pastel and oil paintings, on both paper and canvas. The artwork will be both individual and group work. We have named this exhibition Lotus in Bloom and it is in honour of Muoi Hua who sadly, recently passed away. Muoi was a dedicated and passionate artist whose love of art supported her on her own recovery journey.
By supporting this project you will be enabling these artists to increase their confidence, self-worth, identity, creativity, wellness and give them a sense of value and purpose. You will also be providing an opportunity for these artists to express themselves through the world of art and exhibit this in their own community and to share with their family and friends. We would appreciate any contribution to this project.
