SUPPORT ARTIST-RUN SPACES AT THE 2021 AUCKLAND ART FAIR

Help Artist-Run Spaces – PARASITE | SATCHI & SATCHI & SATCHI | WET GREEN  | RM GALLERY | MOTHERMOTHER – present the work of emerging artists at the 2021 Auckland Art Fair.

The Auckland Art Fair is Aotearoa New Zealand’s premier art showcase. We present art by over 150 artists and 40+ of the best galleries in the wider Pacific Rim region. The next Auckland Art Fair will take place from 24-28 February 2021 at The Cloud on Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland's Queens Wharf.

In order to spotlight the breadth and diversity of the best art and artists working across Aotearoa, we need your help to exhibit the works of early-career artists to the 10,000+ visitors who attend the Fair. 

WHY

A presence at the Art Fair enables these spaces to develop new connections both locally and internationally and sustain their artistic careers. This is your chance to make a real difference for emerging artists. 

Artist-Run Spaces run on energy and enthusiasm – and almost no funds – so to make their participation in the Fair possible, we need your support!

WHO

The artists and curators involved are the ‘next generation’ and they make things happen through a sense of urgency. They are a vibrant and important part of Aotearoa’s art ecology, and the spaces they work within provide an essential opportunity for experimentation with exhibition-making and art practice. They bring energy and a new perspective to their presentations. These spaces will be showcased in a special section of the Art Fair dedicated to forward-thinking and generative discussion. 

The new section of the Fair will be facilitated by Becky Hemus, a writer and curator based in Tāmaki Makaurau, who is also behind Wet Green and May Fair Art Fair, and will include artists talks and a commissioned text to be distributed alongside each presentation. It will be the first time that so many Artist-Run Spaces have been able to participate in the Fair. Please do what you can to make this possible!

THE FUNDING

Your support will cover the costs of each Artist-Run presentation at the Fair and provide a writer’s fee as well as a contribution towards framing, travel and other expenses. 

Thanks to Creative New Zealand for their advance funding toward RM Gallery’s participation, which has enabled the target for this campaign to be reduced.
