The Project
The Project
In the sprawling plains of 1865 New Zealand, A tired bounty hunter past his prime escorts two sibling criminals to their execution. In a blind rage, the hunter kills one of his captives after the boy attempts to uncover a shameful piece of his past. Now down to one bounty, the journey becomes one of hate and guilt. Only when the pair realize they are being tracked by a merciless gang of bandits, can they find some common ground that ultimately leads to acceptance… But never forgiveness.
The Western Genre is oversaturated with films and shows about stoic outlaws being heroes and killing bad guys, and while that is fun, 20 Years Buried intends to flip that trope on its head. If you look past the action, drama, and excellent cinematography, most Western “heroes” are just bad men, killing for their own gain. This film will explore that concept by opening with a classic Western hero that everyone can root for, but by the end, the audience will realize that he is a pathetic and evil man who is not even worth their pity.
