03 Sessions

03 Sessions is an Ōtautahi-based music and creative collective, whose mission is to promote original and improvised music from Christchurch and beyond. 

We host weekly gigs by artists at venues across the city, and present more than 30 concerts a year. Since starting in 2020, we have played a vital role in organising, promoting and nurturing creative music in Ōtautahi Christchurch. We want to take 03 Sessions to the next level by live-streaming our amazing weekly performances, and we need your help!

OUR TEAM

03 Sessions was founded in 2020 by musician Jimmy Rainey, and is run by a small and diverse collective of local creatives. In the less than two years since our first Thursday night gig, we have presented more than 50 events celebrating original music, at venues including Space Academy, CoCA Toi Moroki, The Arts Centre, Little Andromeda and The Piano.

From jazz to hiphop, experimental to pop; we have represented Ōtautahi music to the fullest, presenting artists including Mundi, Ben Woods, Vallé, Yurt Party, Darren Pickering, Symposium, Alice Tanner & Heather Webb.

OUR GOAL

The next step in the 03 Sessions journey is this: we want to purchase live-streaming equipment to set up at our home-base Space Academy. This will allow us to expand our online reach, build an archive of performances, and deliver music when in-person gatherings aren't possible.

In our Boosted Ōtautahi campaign this June, we are aiming to raise $6000. This will allow us to purchase:

• 3x Full HD cameras
• high quality stereo microphones
• digital audio interface
• live stream hosting device

We've seen so much amazing music at 03 Sessions these past two years. Ōtautahi Christchurch has always been a great music city, and 03 Sessions has emerged as an important platform for our new generation of original & improvised music makers.
