Dane Giraud

I am a South Auckland-raised former punk/ rock guitarist who began my screen career starring in and co-writing (giving myself all the best lines) the 2001 movie The Waiting Place.

Along with directing feature drama Luella Miller, I have been a key creative (writer/ showrunner) in a slew of comedy shows and documentaries (Bring Your Boots OzBoth Worlds). I co-created the Loading Docs documentary portal and was the creator of the hit mockumentary series Find Me a Māori Bride. I wrote and directed YouTube sensation Jimi Jackson's debut TV show Jimi's World, as well as Takes a Village, and Tongue Tied.

I have ghost-written on a number of theatrically released projects and have written feature film projects for major American studios (a horror-comedy and an action-comedy! Booyah!)

I have a passion for my 'hood and have been offering my services (for free) to develop emerging writers for a good two years now. A super rewarding experience. My personal affirmation: Each person should see himself as though the entire world is on a delicate balance, and with one deed, he or she can tip the scales.
