WIDance provides dance classes, workshops, and performance experiences for people and communities with limited access to dance.
WIDance began in 2010 under the umbrella of Touch Compass Dance, New Zealand's first professional inclusive dance organisation. Since then we have provided inclusive dance workshops, classes, and performance opportunities in the Wellington region.
Our creative space builds confidence through creativity and self expression by identifying, encouraging, and growing individuals' authentic movement vocabulary.
Our participants are taught dance skills and techniques which increase body and cognitive ability, as well as improvisation and composition to support increased personal movement vocabulary.
Each participant is actively involved in the creation and development of performance choreography and plays an active role in the decision making process. WIDance aims to be fully inclusive, and works to find ways to ensure this happens in each class, workshop, or performance experience.
