Bob Kerridge
Bob Kerridge has had a long and distinguished career in animal welfare in New Zealand. The son of Sir Robert Kerridge (entrepreneur and philanthropist), he was the Executive Director of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) in Auckland for 32 years, also serving on the Society's Board, and was the National President of the Royal New Zealand Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RNZSPCA). He was the founder and chairman of the New Zealand Companion Council (NZCAC) and a board member of the World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA). He also served as a Justice of the Peace (JP) for 32 years, was a Knight of Justice with the Order of St John (KStJ), and a Fellow of the NZ Institute of Management (FNZIM). Bob was honoured as a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit (MNZM) and later promoted to Officer (ONZM) for services to animal welfare and governance.
A well-respected broadcaster and columnist, he authored the book ‘Talking for the Animals’ (Tandem Press – 1996) after the long-running radio program of the same name, was a columnist with the NZ Women’s Weekly for ten years, and the subject of the biography by Diane Haworth ‘Father and Son’ (Harper Collins – 2004). Bob was also the Managing Editor of the magazine ‘Animals’ Voice’ which was published between 1996 and 2016.
