As a story teller I'm interested in the lives of others. I've been working in the media for years, for TV & festivals as a documentary producer/director & as an oral historian... occasionally bursting into print. I love working with a crew but occasionally resort to a handicam or phone if I'm filming in countries like Iran, (The Kiwi, the Knight & the Qashqai) or Myanmar,(The Myanmar Young Leaders Project.)
When Robert Reid, one of the founders of OHMS, Organisation to Halt Military Service, asked me to make a documentary about the shortest & most successful protest in Aotearoa's history I jumped at the chance. It was an opportunity to shine a light on a protest 50 years ago during the Vietnam War. These activists have never stopped challenging injustice.
Unfortunately no TV channels were interested in 'old people' but we're thrilled Doc Edge invited us to submit our film, OHMS! Protest! With a channel or platform backing us we'd have had access to a budget.
Undeterred money was raised among the good folk who campaigned successfully against CMT, for the wonderful film crews and terrific editor, Peter Metcalf, but we'd be grateful for some post-production finishing funds if possible.

Social media is a handy marketing tool, but you don’t own your social media community. The visibility of your posts is at the mercy of social media algorithms. In other words, just because you publish a status update, doesn’t mean people see it. Furthermore, if the gods of digital decide to fold a platform, that’s your hard-earned followers gone in a blink.
